Startups and their Eco-systems

The 11th Asia-Pacific Weeks (APW) will be held from May 23 to June 3, 2016 in Berlin - now every year. With an emphasis on the Asia-Europe Innovation Dialogue they are building on the formats and results of the APW 2015.

The central subject of the Euro-Asian dialogue is Startups and their pro-innovation ecosystems: locations, context, and interaction networks for start-ups and growth and innovation. The ecosystems include universities and research institutes as well as founders and conveyors (incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces), VC funds, angel investors and service providers, and established companies as strategic partners.

The Asia-Europe Innovation Dialogue focuses on the ideal conditions for active "startup ecosystems" and on the needs for internationalization and strategies in terms of sales, finance, HR recruiting, production and strategic partnerships. Which framework conditions do companies need for a successful start in the German and Asian markets? How do strategies of startups differ in Germany and Asia, where do they complement each other? In which industries do we find the most innovative and fastest growing startups? How did startups from Germany make their way to Asia and vice versa? How do their support needs may differ from traditional SMEs? Where does intercontinental cooperation make sense? Which business and support models combine economic action and development cooperation?

Beyond these questions the APW 2016 also continue with the "Smart Cities" theme of the APW in 2013 and 2015. The Berlin cluster competencies energy, mobility and logistics, environmental technologies and ICT, media and creative industries are reflected as relevant businesses for Berlin startups with an international orientation.
In the second week "Smart Cities" will be featured again by the congress exhibition Metropolitan Solutions which will take place in Berlin from May 31 to June 2.

An extensive and versatile partner program complements the central APW events. Institutions from the science, political and business sectors, museums and galleries participate as third party organizers under the main theme of the APW or present other relevant aspects of the Asia-Pacific region.
